Editorial/Description:Product Description: Film, as well as video, often exhibits a greater sensitivity to what is to us invisible, ultraviolet light. This is most often outdoors, especially at high altitudes, where the UV-absorbing atmosphere is thinner; and over long distances, such as marine scenes. It can show up as a bluish color cast with color film, or it can cause a low-contrast haze that diminishes details, especially when viewing far-away objects, in either color or black-and-white. Ultraviolet filters absorb UV light generally without affecting light in the visible region. It is important to distinguish between UV-generated haze and that of air-borne particles, such as smog. The latter is made up of opaque matter that absorbs visible light as well as UV, and will not be appreciably removed by a UV filter. The UV Protector shields lens from dust, moisture, scratches, and breakage. Amazon.com Product Description: Protects lenses from dust, moisture, scratches, and other damage. These filters can be kept on the camera at all times.
Customer Reviews:
Never got the item
December 4, 2008
Never got my item, the packaging came but the actual filter was not there. What a waste of time and money!!!
Always check for right size
November 29, 2008
This uv filter works fine- on my Sony a100! The Panasonic DMC 30FZ I bought it for on the accessories part of amazon recommended it and it is not the right size for that. I guess everyone but me knows to double check the small accessories that amazon says go with a unit. Taught me to be more careful, at least, when I'm buying adapters, batteries, etc, have not had a problem since. By the way, it's a good quality filter!
Good Stuff

I expect Tiffen to produce good photographic material and they continue to live up to my expectations with this polarizer.
Tiffen filters
November 11, 2008
Tiffen has long been a name known for quality filters. Of the lower-priced filters, they are probably the best.
Lable not printed clearly?
August 10, 2008
Somehow the label not printed clearly. Looks like out of paint. Wondering how they can past QC. Looks cheaply made.
