Editorial/Description:

Amazon.com: Disney sets a record for bringing out a direct-to-video sequel after the initial film. Stitch: The Movie arrives only a year after the enjoyable Lilo & Stitch played theaters and reunites the title character (otherwise known as Experiment 626) with his earth-bound family in the warm Hawaiian sun. The story has a nice set-up: since Stitch is Experiment 626, where are the first 625 invented by Dr. Jumba Jookiba? Odds are the island paradise will soon be spaceport central for many more aliens. As with other made-for-video Disney titles, the animation is not as complex or rich. This hurts this sequel even more since the original film had such a unique, pastel beauty. Unfortunately, the other elements of the film are just as flat. Even though most of the original voice cast returns, the entire production lacks the same spirit and charm, and the story's theme is recycled (get ready for more "Ohana means family"). On the plus side, the film starts with an Elvis Presley song ("Slicin' Sand") and is only 64 minutes long. The movie sets up the Disney TV series The Adventures of Lilo & Stitch. --Doug Thomas

Unfair Comparisons   December 27, 2007
It is not fair to compare a multimillion dollar feature to a budget video.
Tony Craig is one of the most talented people in the industry, and if he got 50-100 million dollars to work with and a free reign, I'm sure he would create a blockbuster. So enjoy the video for what it is, it is much more entertaining then "Stitch had a Glitch".

The movie was fantastic as are all the Lilo & Stitch Movies.
Great for the Kids & Adults, kept us all smiling & laughing.
Very Touching, & well rounded as far as emotions...

OK so this movie is the start of the tv series and dosen't have any of the emotional things but this wasnt a bad movie at all it was a prologe to leoroy and stich and it wasnt suposed to be the next Pokemon eather if it was it would of launched with thosand of merchindise shure it had a few things like coloring books and video games but cartoon dosen't botom line it's not a sequel or a fad it's a prologe.

Yet Another Bad Sequel from Disney; See 'Lilo and Stitch 2' Instead   July 6, 2006
They say all the major characters come back in `Stitch the Movie,' quickly made direct-to-video sequel to the hugely popular `Lilo and Stitch.' For me, the original film's most appealing part is, and will be, Lilo and Stitch, one of the most delightful characters Disney created in the last decade. Do we still need Pleakley when we have Stitch? How about Cobra? Or some alien whose name you have forgotten? Do we need them? No, I don't think so.

But `Stitch the Movie' crammed all these characters into this small film of which running time barely exceeds one hour, together with a weak story that repeats exactly what the original was doing. The original's idea of `Ohana' or `family' is changed to `cousin' this time, but for most of the viewers this is literally a twice-told story, no longer attractive enough.

What makes us feel short-changed is, however, the lack of music and scenery, the impressive parts of `Lilo and Stitch.' Instead of Elvis songs, they have thrown in parodies or homage to other films and TVs like Monty Python and Ed Wood, completely missing the target audiences who would buy this DVD to experience the joyful sound and rhythm of this great singer.

Moreover, the charming, water-color Hawaiian scenery is reduced to the generic, unimaginative backdrop which is barely OK even by the lower standard of the Disney's cheap sequels.

The only saving grace is the presence of the actors who provided the voices to the characters. Except that, and the funny but brief scenes about the lovely pair Lilo and Stitch, `Stitch the Movie' looks like a pilot film for the original. Or perhaps it is.
