Customer Reviews:

Another great addition to the collection   July 24, 2007
Like I said for Season 1, I'll say for season 2 part 1, if want you want is to watch the cartoons, this DVD is for you. It has 5.1 audio, which is a plus.

A great start to season 2   January 5, 2007
The first part of this season starts of great and builds up quickly with a number of multi-episode stories. I had a great time watching these and they still capture kids attention 20+ years later.

Great for Fans   September 18, 2006
Season two is where the Transformes mania really started to take off, even spawning the theatrical movie of 1986. In some ways season two is great. We get a lot more episodes and more characterization for out beloved bots. I think my biggest complaint about the second season would have to be the "Transformer of the week" syndrome that plagued it. This was an unfortunate side effect of the show's popularity. Hasbro was looking to sell as many toys as possible so we had tons of new characters on both sides of the conflict popping up with no explanation. Here is where the pushing aside of fan favorites started. But this season also gave us four episodes focusing on fan favorites the Dinobots, even adding two more Dinos to the beloved team of Mayhem.

While there are some really bizarre episodes in this set like "Atlantis Arise" there are some real gems like "Microbots," "Changing Gears," and despite the silliness of the premise "A Decepticon Raider in King Aurthur's Court." While some of the jokes fall flat, many still make me laugh today. The dialog was written in the west and doesn't tend to suffer the cultural gap that later versions of TF written in the East seem to. Unfortunately animation errors abound and can be a bit jarring at times. It seems they did little to correct these with the release. I really enjoyed the episodes all in all and have a great time popping in a DVD and reminiscing about wishing I could meet Optimus Prime as a kid.

If your a fan of G1, you'll love it.

A Must have for Fans. Subpar compared to Season One. (1 of 4 Found this Helpful)   April 30, 2006
I bought this and volume 2 as well as Seson one before that.

The epsisodes are good but not as good as Season One. But again, like season one, I would have hoped for worthwhile extras. This season had none, in fact.

Compared to Season One, you get quantity with many more episodes but not neccessarily quality in terms good episodes. With many more episodes, you get about as many good ones as Season One...which are all really good.

Another apsect of Season Two, besides weaker story telling, that I never cared for was the lack of attention to detail, compared to Season One, that went into sound effects and musical score leaving a weaker product in terms of power and detail. The score and sound were more varied but in a bad way as a result. Sometimes less is more.

And, although commerically neccessary, I grew weary, even as kid, of the endless introduction of new characters. I never adapted well to having so many new characters show up every week. The originals were the ones I found engaging. With a few unique exceptions that had some depth and served a purpose like Perceptor, most of the new ones were superfluous and distracting, in my opinion. Again, less can be more.

Still the major flaw with all these "remastered" Transformers DVD's is the total lack of care that went into them. The numerous flubs, glitches and errors in terms of voice and color are were left unchanged. But unlike Season One, they didn't manage to create new ones! Something that still confounds me about the Season One.

You'd think they would have done this small service of correction and clean-up for the Transformers many loyal fans of some 22 years

Still, overall, a good buy for any fan.

Awesome second season. (4 of 4 Found this Helpful)   April 24, 2006
The continuation of the first season on the legacy of the legendary Transformers show! Fans of the show have said that the second season is better than the first and i have to agree. This is the first part of the second season and it delivers on all accounts with more action, lovable characters, more emotion and more fun then ever.

The episodes are "Autobot Spike" where Spike's mind is transfered into a autobot, "Changing Gears" has Megatron who kidnaps Gears for his Sun Needle experiment, "City of Steel" has Megatron with his constructicons taking over New York City, " Attack of the Autobots" features Megatron who puts the autobots under his control no thanks to a chip, " Traitor" is about Megatron and two of the seekers stole volatile Electrocells from a science lab, "Immobilizler" deals with the Decepticons stoleaing Wheeljack's newest instant Immobilizler as Ironhide feels responsible for it and Spike falls for a lovely girl named Carly. " The Autobot Run" has the Constructicons unveil Megatron's latest and newest device called The Transfixatron where they can lock the Autobot's tranfomation abilties, " Atlantis, Arise" has Laserbeak and Buzzsaw who finds a ancient populated city beneath the sea called Subatlantica and Megatron makes a deal with the king, " Day of the Machines" deals with Megatron who reprograms a special supercomputer to do his bidding, " Enter the Nightbird" has a new manmade female ninja robot named Nightbird but the Decepticons upgrade Nightbird's program to evil, " A Prime Problem" has Megatron creating a clone of Optimus Prime to lead the Autobots to their death, " The Core" has Megatron who has a diabolical plan to get energy from the Earth's core but doesn't listen to Starscream's warning that it will rip the Earth apart, " The Insecticon Syndrome" has the robotic insect trio who become giantic after munching down the power core of a Nova Power Plant. "Dinobot Island parts 1 & 2" has the Dinobots sequested on a island with surviving dinosaurs and Megatron wants the energies of the island that might unleash vortexes from other times, " Master Builder" deals with Grapple wanting to make a experiment for a Solar Power Tower but the Constructicons convicence him and Hoist to build the device, " Auto Berserk" has Red Alert damaged after a battle with a Decepticon and goes nuts.

" Microbots" has Megatron who brings up back the ship that they had been on before and with it a special fuel cell called the Heart of Cybertron as the autobots are shrunken to destroy it. "Megatron's Master Plan parts 1 & 2" deals with Megatron accusing the Autobots of a crime they didn't commit as Spike with friends must clear their names, " Desertion of the Dinobots parts 1 & 2" has the Autobots and the Decepticons suffering malfuction due to lack of a special fuel called Cybertonium as Dinobots with Carly and Spike must recieve it before the Decepticons do, "Blaster Blues" has Blaster who's taste in music destracts the Autobots from hearing an important distress signal and the Decepticons has stolen the Voltronic Galxer communications device and finally " A Decepticon Raider in King Arthur's Court" has Starscream, Rumble, Ramjet and Ravage who chase Warpath, Hoist and Spike in a cave that sends them back to the days of Camelot and they must find a way home.

All episodes are wonderfully remastered with great picture & sound quality especially the original mono and the features are "A Taste of Botcon 2002" that includes interviews with the cast and crew of the show at the convention, Animation goofs with a commentary by a Transformers advisor and interview with Transformers writer Earl Kress.
