For only $40 this headset is a best buy. I have no problems with the sound quality, volume, or people hearing me on the other end. It actual provides better sound clarity both ways then my cellphones built in speaker and mic. Set-up is no problem at all, and so far the battery hasn't run out on me (I charge it every night along with my cell). I heard a lot of people complain about the 850's volume output, but I dont have any problem with the 820. I use it with my Nokia 3650, and the ability to walk away from my cell phone is a huge advantage, considering I don't get cellular reception everywhere in my apartment. Now I can leave my phone in an area with good reception, and walk around the apartment with my bluetooth headset. Don't believe the "32.8 feet" range on the product description, that value is based on the bluetooth specification, which is really a maximum range assuming you have absolutely no interference at all (no walls or other wireless signals). However, I am able to walk about 20 feet through multiple walls without a problem. I basically get coverage everywhere in my apartment where I would possibly walk to (it gets a little staticy in my roommate's room, but it is still audible). The one thing that takes a little getting used to is controlling your basic functions using only one button. This is accomplished by holding the 'Multifunction Button' for different durations, and overall it works pretty well (once you remember what does what). However, I can't use this as a negative remark towards this headset, because basically all bluetooth headsets implement similar designs. An example of using the Multifuntion button: while connected, quickly pressing the button (a "short press") will answer or hang up a call, or activate voice dialing if there is no incoming call. Holding the button for about 2 seconds (a "long press") will redial my last number, or if your in a call, I believe it puts your current call on hold - however, I would rather not take the risk of hanging up and rather use my phone to activate hold or mute. The headset automatically connects to your phone when you turn it on (after initial pairing) which is really convenient. You can download a PDF of the manual from the motorola website so you get an idea of all the controls and commands you are able to pull of using the multifunction button. A definate pro is two volume buttons (increase/decrease) as oppossed to one, and the ability to switch ears with the headset and have the volume buttons work correctly in their orientation. The design look fine and is not very obtrusive and attention drawing.

(+) My favorite feature of this phone: Voice Dialing. With my Nokia 3650, I am able to program 20 voice tags to use with voice dialing (the quantity of voice dialing numbers and accuracy probably varies by phone model). However, eventhough my phone is not a motorola, the voice dialing (along with all the other features) works seamlessly with my phone. I love the ability to leave my phone somewhere else and call people using the voice dialing function. A great bonus while riding in the car.

(-) Only Negative --- The headset is rather light so it almost feels like it is going to fall off because the clip is not very tight, but rather just kind of rests on your ear. I guess this makes it more comfortable during long calls, but I kind of feel like it would fall off easily if I were to be running - although this hasn't happenned yet. Also, the blue light blinks every 3 seconds while not in call, which can get kind of annoying when in the car at night.

FINAL CONCLUSION: At $40 I don't see why there is any reason not to get this, it works fine and sounds great, so I don't see what other features another headset could offer to make it worth the price difference. I would have paid twice as much for this product and still been happy with my purchase.

I absolutely love this earpiece! In the past, when I have used headsets, I often have complaints that I cannot be heard. With this one, no one even realizes I am using the headset. When I am on a driving trip, I can just leave it on my ear and when someone calls, I can just touch the button to answer. No hunting the phone from under the water bottles and McDonald's bag:) I just leave the phone in my purse. I also can push the button and use the voice dial from my phone. I have found that I am able to get a pretty good distance from my cell phone without loss of quality. However, I generally just stick the phone in my pocket. I am 100% satisfied with this product.

I got this few days back. Quite impressed with the size. Pairing was not properly documented in the manual. One has to press and hold the MFB(Multi Function Button) till it turns SOLID for successful pairing.

Ease of use is just great. Product is so lite and you wont even realize that you have this on. Microphone is very powerful.

Couple of things:

(1) Few voice-dialing was not picked up by the phone. Need to re-record it. I dont suspect this unit to be the culprit.

(2) While this is on, the ringtone got automatically changed to the default tone on my phone as opposed to the personalize tone I set. I am still clueless on how this could happen. All the settings look okay.....

Other than the second one, this is a great product. I did not buy this from Amazon - got it from eBay for less.

i am very happy with the Motorola HS820 bluetooth, i recently got it for my nextel i870 and i love it , no echo problems so far, light weight and very long battery life.

Pros: Light weight
Good Battery life
Volume control nice
Comfortable
Great Distance

Con: Earpiece not fully adjustable like others

This is my first Bluetooth headset and I really like. I bought it to go with my T-Mobile RAZR and have no complaints. I drive a Sebring Convertible and I can still use the device while driving around town with the top down. My only complaint is that it is so light weight that I forget about it and walk into places with it on my ear.
