Editorial/Description:Product Description: This cool and contemporary Twister game gives kids the ultimate Twister experience. With DVD audio and video instruction, you'll know just where to go. Twister Dance Edition features three levels that teach you the moves to perform on one of the four mats. Includes four mats; each one is a different dance environment. Amazon.com Review: This is what you get when you cross a Twister mat with dance lessons, and it's pretty good. The concept is simple: Pop the DVD in the machine, lay out the 2.5-foot square mat in front of the TV, and dance following the onscreen prompts. In Learn mode, an animated choreographer shows you the moves step by step. The 40 dance lessons start slow and simple and gently add complexity. Dance mode increases the tempo and strings the individual moves into a dance routine. Finally, a party mode provides and music and lights without the prompting or examples, but you can only get there after completing the other modes. It's an energetic single-player game, and the instructions suggest rules for making it a competitive game. The mats clearly mark out step zones and are close enough to be within easy reach for anyone taller than about 4 feet. Unlike Twister, though, this game makes sure that you're in no close proximity to other players, which is a good thing since all eyes are focused either on the TV or on floor mats while arms and legs flail. Inside the box you'll find the DVD, instruction booklet, and four non-slip dance mats. --Porter B. Hall

learn to dance using dvd player & small dance mat (no electronics)

Simple learn to dance using dvd menus w/computer generated characters. The script wasn't lame, the graphics great & the design of the menu was done well. The female dancer teacher, DJ & the male & female dancers (1 at a time in instruction mode) are all computer 3D with only no necks. They have sometimes orange, green or blue skin & are dressed in in style clothes. The music is generic but still keeps you interested. There are extra sounds like cheering, etc. even. Menu - English & Spanish & then automatically plays the "how the program works" (aka help). You get 4 main areas: Aqua Beach, Downtown, Twister Dance Club & Center Stage which each have 10 moves, a dance session & party. The moves are listed & you choose what you want to play in the menu. The dance session contains all the moves in a routine in normal speed w/more clubby like graphics, spinning dancers in a psychedelic way & w/o any teaching of all the moves you've played w/o going back to the session area or main menu. For the dance session, you better know them by heart because with all the twisting, you won't be able to follow. After playing anything, you can repeat it, go on to the next part or go to dance style menu or the main menu. The moves are only about 2-3 min long each, shown normal speed first. Then it's broken down to 8-count in 1/2 speed first just moving your feet to the spots w/o any twists, turns or bending of any joints 2x, then adding any bends, etc. of the lower body 2x, then adding any upper body movements 2x. Then played normal speed 2-4x still with counting & her calling out the colored spots/how to move your limbs. This makes it easy to learn & you can pause or replay the whole thing over & over if you like, but you cannot FF once started only skip to the menu if you can't wait until it finishes. The dance instruction is well done, good timing on telling you when to move & it shows the BACK of the dancer closest to you & their front smaller & further away like watching a dancer from behind with a mirror in front of the dancer. VERY good idea. If the move only goes to one side, they only teach one side. It's up to you to repeat it & teach yourself the other side. The moves have Reggae, hip hop, Latin, or pop video style moves. Some remind me even if a simpler version of part of a Charleston.
The dance mats are only vinyl & to help you see, there are no electronic feedback so it's only needed for very young kids as the tv shows the mats being used & only needed to see placement of feet.
The only con to this program is that the computer generated dancers sometimes don't quite execute the more subtle fluid portions of the dance, but otherwise this is perfect.
My students love it!!!!

I bought this with the intent of using it on my general music students. but my own children love it, my high school choir kids love it and today I finally test drove it on my general music students. I had to make my own mats so everyone would have one (don't laminate them). They all participated and actually seemed to really enjoy it. We are going to make it into a competition after they learn all the dance steps to one of the dance sections. They were really buzzed about that. This is great fun and doesn't require an x-box or anything like that. Thanks for making a great product that is so much fun.
Lots of fun for tweens

It's fun and a great workout. The only thing that I had trouble with is catchicg onto the harder dance moves.
