You certainly can't go wrong as far as price is concerned. It has a perfect size, it repels water, it's basic black, and it's sturdy. As far as handle odor, I have to get it close to my nose, I haven't noticed it smelling up a whole room as some have stated here. It will get on your hands, but easily washes off. I'm betting the rubber odor, like new tires on a car, will disappear.

Warning - this umbrella handle seems to be made of a tire composite material and even after we've had it opened for 4 weeks - it still smells really bad. Make anything it touches smell. We told them we wanted to return it,but Amazon just gave us credit for it and said to toss it.
Great, but it does have that odor...

DEFINITELY worth the money. This is a great umbrella, especially for the money. However I must agree with the other reviews, the handle does have a chemical smell. It does get better with time though. I'd buy it again.

OK Big umbrella. Cheap. YES the handle smells very bad, so remove it. I cut mine off immediately and sanded the glue off. [ I think the GLUE is what stinks.] This cut the stench down to about 90%. Is still a bit smelly but I can handle it and think it will go away in time.
I think I am going to hot glue a chunk of bamboo on for the new handle or maybe use a old mountain bike grip after expanding the skinny fiber glass handle with duck tape or the like.

i think this is the best umbrella for the price.
never had any problem with it.
