This was just what I was looking for - something to mask noises and help me fall asleep. The sounds are just a little mechanical at first, but I quickly got used to them.
great sound therapy

this item was purchased for a medical clinic to help reduce the possibility of hearing private conversations. We are pleased with the way it helps muffle voices thus reducing the chances of violating confidentiality!
A super machine for the price

This is our second Conair Sound Therapy machine. The cricket sound puts us right to sleep. Try it for a week or two and you'll find it "programs" you to sleep. I started traveling so I bought a second one for the hotel to keep out the noise in the hall & room next door. I've read other reviews here that the sound is "electronic". It isn't a perfect high quality recording, but after a few minutes it fades into the background and it doesn't matter any more. That is what it is supposed to do. I highly recommend this for $15.
We couldn't live without it!

We have used this with my now two-year-old, since he was a few months old. First we found that he was soothed by the hairdryer, and we found this on ebay to replace the hairdryer to calm him down and get him to sleep. We've used it every afternoon and night for a year and a half with no problems. The quality of sound seems good enough to me. I've even purchased it as a gift for new moms. It only worth about 17 dollars, though. I wouldn't pay more.
