For every pineapple, turn, turn, turn

This is one nifty pineapple corer/slicer. Slice the top off of the pineapple, place the center of this device on the core of the fruit, and start turning. In a few seconds time, you've got a sliced and cored pineapple. This metal version works very well. It practically glides through the pineapple. My teenagers like it so much that they are going through 2 to 3 pineapples per week! The only thing to be aware of is that it is difficult to store. The slicing knife's diameter is about the same depth of my kitchen drawer.I have to fiddle a bit to get it to fit.
This product is is easy and fun.

I love this thing. My children love to drink the juice left in the pineapple after I remove the slices. Makes cutting pineapple so easy. We eat it all the time now.
Cutting diameter is too small

First of all, the pineapple slicer is a great invention. I have been pleased with this slicer, but I do have one gripe about it.
For your average sized pineapple, the cutting diameter is too small, meaning it leaves too much wonderful pineapple flesh next to the outer skin that has to manually be cut off with a knife. If the cutting diameter was increased say, 1/2 an inch to 1 inch, this would be an easy 5 star rating. If you choose a long, skinny pineapple, less waste is created. But for the average pineapple, this slicer just doesn't cut it.
Other than that, the cutting blade is great and cleanup isn't too difficult.

Does a great job. My husband thinks this is so much easier than having to use just a knife. Very happy with this product.
Watch out for the handle

I have a regular old melamine corer of this same brand. It is generally fabulous and works wonderfully. That is, until a month ago. We've had ours for 9 mos, and the black plastic handle has begun cracking. I was hoping to re-buy a new stainless one, thinking that would solve the problem. However, torque is the issue and the corer part that goes thru the pineapple is still fine. I would not waste the $$ on the stainless model b/c it looks like the top handle, which receives all the torque, is STILL PLASTIC and I anticipate the same breakage issue. My advice is to think of this item as a throw away and that you will have to replace it eventually. Don't buy the stainless.
