Editorial/Description:Product Description: NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service) is more than just an action drama. With liberal doses of humor, it's a show that focuses on the sometimes complex and always amusing dynamics of a team forced to work together in high-stress situations. NCIS Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon), a former Marine gunnery sergeant, whose skills as an investigator are unmatched, formerly led this troupe of colorful personalities. Gibbs, a man of few words, only needs a look to explain it all. The team includes NCIS Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly), an ex-homicide detective who may come off as the world's oldest frat boy, but whose instincts in the field are unparalleled; forensic specialist Abby Sciuto (Pauley Perrette), a talented scientist whose dark wit matches her Goth style and eclectic tastes, NCIS Special Agent Timothy McGee (Sean Murray), an MIT graduate whose brilliance with computers far overshadows his insecurities in the field and Ziva David (Cote de Pablo), a former Moussad agent who shares a bond with Gibbs over the death of his arch nemesis, Ari, the terrorist who killed former NCIS Special Agent Kate Todd. Assisting the team is medical examiner Dr. Donald "Ducky" Mallard (David McCallum), who knows it all because he's seen it all, and he's not afraid to let you know. Rounding out the team is NCIS director Jennifer Shepard (Lauren Holly) who has a romantic history with Gibbs. From murder and espionage to terrorism and stolen submarines, these special agents travel the globe to investigate all crimes with Navy or Marine Corps ties. Amazon.com: With two solid seasons already banked, NCIS returns for a compelling third year with exciting plotlines and a slightly tweaked cast. The show's second season ended with the brutal and shocking death of Caitlin Todd (Sasha Alexander). The first two episodes of this season deal with the aftermath of bringing her killer to justice and examining the emotional impact of her loss on the remaining members of the NCIS team, which is led by Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon). The six-disc set includes all 24 episodes, which aired on CBS during 2005-2006. Returning are happy-go-lucky ladies' man Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly, Dark Angel), forensics expert and resident Goth chick Abby Sciuto (Pauley Perrette), medical examiner Dr. Donald "Ducky" Mallard (David McCallum, The Man from U.N.C.L.E), and agent Timothy McGee (Sean Murray). Former Mossad intelligence officer Ziva David (Cote de Pablo) joins the close-knit cast, as does Jennifer Shepard (Lauren Holly, Dumb & Dumber) as the new NCIS director. Working on a daily basis with Shepard initially makes Gibbs wary. Not only is she a former girlfriend, but she also was his underling at one time. Equal parts CSI and JAG, NCIS works primarily because of its quirky cast, which is able to take sometimes regurgitated ideas and rework them into something engagingly watchable. Throughout this season, we will see agents endangered and framed, and one will accidentally kill an undercover detective who may not have been armed. But the explosive two-part season finale will finally shed light on Gibbs' painful history and help explain why he is who is he today. --Jae-Ha Kim
Customer Reviews:
Easily the best season so far!!!!!!
January 8, 2009
When this season begins everyone is still trying to cope with the murder of Special agent Caitlin Todd. Some with laughter, some with tears. While Gibbs on the other hand was out for blood. But in the end he's not the one to take down Ari. Soon after the roller coaster ride also known as season 3 really begins. After the loss on a very important female character, the group gains two more to replace her. In the form of the new NCIS director Jennifer Shepperd, and Mossad agent Ziva David who the team is very reluctant to open their arms to after the lost of Kate. Now why is the best season so far you ask? That's cause it's the season of change and emotions. You learn more about Gibbs background, Tony becomes a very capable leader by the end of the season, Ziva grows into her role, and Tim shows why we can really no longer call him a probe anymore. Not to mention some of the greatest moments the show has had so far. Tony gets framed for murder, Tim shoots an undercover cop, Abby's new lab assistant tries to kill her,and Director Shepard gets kidnapped. The thing about this season that just makes it so good is it just seems to hit so close to home, a lot more of the cases this season are personal. But I won't be spoiling anymore moments from this very memorable season. JUST GO OUT AND BUT IT ALREADY!!!!!!!! YOU WON'T REGRET IT!!!!!!!!!!
audiio commentary

In two of the audio commentaries they've paired Pauley with Michael. Michael ruins them with his mindless babble. I'd really like to know what Pauley has to say.
Even Navy Folks Will Like This
January 2, 2009
Having been in the navy 21 years and counting, I had zero interest in watching any show related to anything about the navy. By happenstance one evening I was channel surfing when I caught a re-run on a cable channel. I have been hooked ever since. This show is great. All the characters are great, the stories are well written, and overall it's just an extremely fun experience. I highly recommend NCIS to anyone and everyone.
An Excellent Season of NCIS!
October 24, 2008
Season three of NCIS is great! So much suspense, adventure, excitement, Tony, Gibbs, McGee, and Abby! Great new characters, though I think that Lauren Holly should have never cut her hair.
starts with a tragic loss
October 6, 2008
as one of their own is shot and killed by the terrorist Gibbs has been hunting Ari. The season also shows how the different NCIS members are dealing with this tragic loss in a two part episode Kill Ari. This in turn leads to the new characters, Ziva David and the new NCIS Director (who has more than a little history with Gibbs).
This all blends in well and the new members of the team pick up right where they left off. With all the quirkiness and fun that they have in each show, it only helps to show much the actors/actresses have grown together and it makes NCIS one reason that i love to watch not only this show. But others of the same caliber. I am looking forward to season four as well as the 3rd season ended in a particular way. It leaves a lot of things open for the following season.
But it also answers a few questions before the season is up like Gibbs past and how that affects him in his job today. I love all the characters in the show-Abby, Ducky, Dinozo(sp), "Probie", Ziva and the like. As each of them has their various moments throughout the season from killing an undercover cop, to a prisoner dying in custody or a mentally deranged ex-boyfriend that just won't go away.
Along with some cool special features, NCIS is a show that is best watched from the beginning so that you get the full effect. So buy the 1st seasons and start from there. By the time you get to season 3 you'll be well versed and know what all the buzz is about. NCIS is the real deal when it comes to TV shows period.
