For being a supposed sociopath, Dex is pretty broken up about the gruesome events that concluded last season. The one and only person who could possibly understand him is six feet under, and it seems our unlikely hero is losing his homicidal grip. He?s even having a little trouble slicing up a few of his latest victims (from a murderous gang member to a chainsaw-wielding fiend from his past). Enter Lila (Jaime Murray, Hustle), a lady with a sweet British accent and a few dark secrets of her own. She seems to accept Dex for who he really is, and he finds himself feeling relaxed for the first time in his life. In contrast, his relationship with his girlfriend Rita (Julie Benz) has been stretched almost to a breaking point. The problem is, he should be anything but relaxed. Someone picked a poor place to go scuba diving off the Florida coast, and came across an underwater graveyard: Dex?s primo spot for dropping dismembered bodies wrapped in heavy-duty trash bags. Word about the "Bay Harbor Butcher" gets out quick, and the F.B.I. sends the best of the best, Special Agent Frank Lundy (Keith Carradine, Deadwood) to work alongside the police to sniff out Miami?s latest serial killer. This guy is no schlub, and Dex may have met his match. And, yes, Dexter gets to work with Lundy on a daily basis, which provides some wonderfully awkward moments. It certainly doesn?t help that the intuitively paranoid Sergeant Doakes (Erik King, Oz) is hot on Dex?s trail. Season two of Dexter is all about decisions. Lila or Rita? Old code or new code? Run or fight? Right or wrong? Well, one thing?s for sure: When it comes to writing, casting, acting, and production, the makers of this show made all the right decisions. Michael C. Hall is simply superb as the title character. You?ll never find yourself more willing to genuinely root for a serial killer. It?s bloody liberating. --Jordan Thompson

Great Series on Showtime!

As I do not subscribe to Showtime my son gave me the 1st season of Dexter for Christmas last year. I was hooked. I bought the 2nd season and am waiting for the 3rd season to be released. I also bought the 2nd season for my co-workers for Christmas as I also got them hooked. We can't stop talking about each episode.

I watched the first season on network TV and was addicted. I didn't think the second season could be as good, but it was. Maybe even better. This show is certainly different, and very entertaining. I could not stop watching.

With the way the debut season ended, you might think that they people in charge couldn't come up with anything to top that. But they do and in spades too whether it's Dexter's "alleged drug addiction", the sponsor that is supposed to be helping him said addiction. But she really has MANY issues going on with her which will made clear through the season. I will just say the woman gives Glenn Close (Fatal Attraction) a good name. Also Dexter is having issues with his girlfriend and a prolonged stay by her mother (JoBeth Williams) only conpounds the problems between them.
Also one of his coworkers is on to him and late night murderous dealings and basically lets him know it every occasion whether by stalking him or just being the all around jerk that Doakes is throughout the show. Along Lt. LaGuerta who's lost her job and is undercover (literally) trying to get it back by any means necessary. Dex's sister Deb is having her own issues still reeling from her having the Ice Truck Killer as her steady boyfriend. She finally finds someone and starts second guessing things and all that. Another player comes in as well from the FBI, Agent Lundy who's task is to be bring in the new serial killer that no one knows is right under their noses.
There are so many things going on in this season that its hard to believe that everything will get resolved but just look out for the last 2 or 3 episodes of this season to see how it does just that. I won't say anymore other than, if your thinking about getting into the show start off at Season 1 and believe me. By the time you get the second season of this show. You will know others already know about Dexter. It's a well done show, with an excellent cast and storylines as well.
I can't wait until season 3 rolls around on dvd.

Although season two is not as good as season one, Dexter remains my favorite. Still abiding his "code" (Don't kill anyone who doesn't REALLY deserve it), Dexter is now learning that he has feelings after all.
Dexter lives what many of us barely dare to dream, avenge the victims of killers by showing them what they did and then taking the same thing they had taken from their victims before: Their lives.
And he still remains a friendly, sympathetic guy, all the way.

Sent an e-mail to the seller, but no response. DVD is weird, hard to get to 'menu' to select chapter. On almost every show,often more than once, it skips or freezes. Only DVD I have this problem with.
