Editorial/Description:Description: Multi-platinum group Fall Out Boy present their first ever LIVE concert\DVD "**** Live in Phoenix". Taped last June at the Cricket Pavilion in Phoenix for the 2007 Honda Civic Tour, the DVD features over one hour of LIVE music from all three Fall Out Boy albums including the hits, "Saturday," "Sugar We're Going Down," "Dance, Dance," "This Ain't A Scene, It's An Arms Race" and "Me & You." Also featured on the DVD are all eight Fall Out Boy music videos in chronological order, the making of "Me & You"- filmed in Uganda - and plenty of behind-the-scenes footage and out-takes from last summer's Honda Civic Tour.
Customer Reviews:
Excellent live concert/ music video dvd for FOB fans, but old school fans may feel left out
November 29, 2008
The concert footage includes a pretty impressive lineup of songs spanning most of Fall Out Boy's career. I was disappointed to not see "Calm Before the Storm" or any other songs originally from the Evening Out with Your Girlfriend album during the Phoenix show. A lot of the audience footage is of little girls who are new to the band, and only like them because of Mtv and girl's magazine publicity, and because they think the band is "cute". In my opinion the camera does not show a BROAD enough spectrum of the fans there; the emokids, scene kids, punk fans, average joes, etc...
The extra dvd content is good overall. It includes some, but NOT ALL of FOB's music videos over the years. If you are an old school fan and were really hoping to see music videos from the Take This to Your Grave Album, then you may be let down. All dvd videos included are only from the From Under the Cork Tree and Infinity on High albums (The two newest and weakest albums in my opinion)
The behind the scenes dvd footage is a mixed bag of rehersals, living quarter tours and "wanna-be Jackass" type stunts by Pete and some roadie named "Dirty". Some highlights are the Killer whale sweater, Patrick's living quarters, paying "Dirty" if he makes it 24 hours without talking, and Pete Wentz straightening "Dirty's" hair.
Overall the dvd is action-packed, full of humor and is a great gift for most FOB fans. If you have been a huge fan since the early days of Fall Out Boy or thought their first two albums were the strongest, you may be feeling a little left out. Unfortuantely the dvd focuses on the new, more poppy sounding songs and not as much on the older, more emo/punk sounding material. Because I am an old-school FOB fan, I give this dvd 4 out of 5 stars.
A Great Live Show

Rock has meshed into so many sound alike bands over the years, but Fall Out Boy have remained true to their roots, giving fans a little extra with pyrotechnics at their shows for all their googles of girly fans. At a time now with more rap artists like 50 cent, Jay-Z and Lil Wayne dominating the music charts, shoving rock musicians out of the way, it's been harder for the full style rock bands to make it big. Fall Out Boy have been deemed one of the last alternative rock bands to succeed.
Their songs are sharp, witty, crafty and with pop anthems to the T. This Live DVD Proves it. Live In Phoenix is a heck of a show for any fan. It was filmed on the band's 2007 Phoenix, Arizona stop of the Honda Civic Tour. Fall Out Boy seems to still have the connections to fans that they had in the beginning and adding more. They will probably be around for a long time.

If you're an old-school kind of fan of FOB, then you might not like this DVD very much. There's too much of the element of really putting on a show in an egotistical way, especially on Pete's part. All the shots of the audience are of the airhead fans who only like FOB because "they're hot" and wear I <3 Pete across their tits. Musically the performance is good. The theatrics however are not, they are too over the top and obviously planned to show off for the DVD in an egotistical way like I said. It's nice that the DVD includes music videos but it is not ALL of their videos, only videos from the last two albums (Cork Tree and Infinity on High) - none from the Take This To My Grave album. The behind the scenes stuff really really sucks though. Especially compared to their behind the scenes antics on their previous two DVDs, which were great. I would highly recommend their previous two DVDs My Heart Will Always Be the B-Side to My Tongue and Clandestine Industries Presents: Release the Bats because I feel that those are more accurate and a much better representation of them.
