Editorial/Description:

Description: History has never been so... hysterical! Prepare to fight for honor, fight for glory, and fight back tears of laughter watching this gut-busting spoof comedy that skewers pop culture's biggest icons.

In Meet the Spartans, the heroic Leonidas, armed with nothing but leather underwear and a cape, leads a ragtag group of 13 - count'em, 13! - warriors to defend their homeland against the invading Persians, whose ranks include Ghost Rider, Rocky Balboa, the Transformers, and a hunchbacked Paris Hilton.

You won't find a funnier Greek war film even if you live to see 300!

Amazon.com: With Meet the Spartans, the creators of Date Movie lampoon penguins, Paris Hilton, American Idol, Britney Spears, Dancing with the Stars, Stomp the Yard, Brangelina, Lindsay Lohan, product placement, Sylvester Stallone, Transformers, and pretty much every other obvious target that's emerged since they made their last flick, Epic Movie. The main subject of mockery is 300, the visual-effects laden Greek warrior movie, the relentless homoeroticism of which is not-so-subtly pointed out with a mixture of scatology, phallic humor, painted-on six-pack abs, disco songs, blows to the groin, and spitting--lots and lots and lots of spitting. There's nothing remotely clever about Meet the Spartans, and even fans of pop-culture cuisinarts like Scary Movie may feel the genre is losing its oomph, but if you're looking for a shotgun blast of lowbrow gags, this is it. Along for the ride are Sean Maguire (The Class), Kevin Sorbo (Hercules), Ken Davitian (Borat), Diedrich Bader (Napoleon Dynamite), and Carmen Electra, without whom no movie of this kind would be complete. The only person who emerges with any credibility is comedienne Nicole Parker (Mad TV), who does a pretty spot-on impression of Ellen DeGeneres. --Bret Fetzer

Customer Reviews:

It's interesting movie!!!   October 22, 2008
This movie was fun and interesting. This movie characters are funny and acts are good. The movie CGI was nice. The blu-ray disc was good.

Beyond Bad (1 of 1 Found this Helpful)   October 14, 2008
Those who haven't seen the movie "300" probably won't get most of the jokes in "Meet the Spartans," and those who HAVE seen it probably won't get them either. That's because for any audience this is one of the worst, most jaw-droppingly witless parodies in motion picture history (and that's saying quite a lot).

Suffice it to say that this slapdash mixture of gladiator-movie cliches and truly lame pop culture references has enough homophobic jokes to set the cause of gay rights back a good quarter of a century or more (OK, these Spartan warriors like men; we get it, we get it!).

Indicative of the movie's utter failure at pacing and timing are two scenes - one at the "pit of death" and another featuring a step-dance competition between the Greeks and the Persians - that drone on for a minor eternity. But then the whole movie goes on too long - 86 minutes too long to be exact.

An Army of 3 Strong   October 2, 2008
This is obviously a take on Frank Millers movie 300.
Well it has some great moments, but falls off a little here and there where there aren't any laughs.

Still enjoyable though.

No people! NO! (1 of 1 Found this Helpful)   September 18, 2008
You may think the 1 star rating is for the movie. No! The movie gets no stars. The 1 star is for the people who gave it 5 stars.

Dont waste the time.   September 18, 2008
One word to describe this movie DUMB. Nothing about it was funny. Has been actors who wont let it go and some who cant even act.
