Editorial/Description:

Album Description: A melting-pot of laid-back melodies, hip-hop rhythms and acoustic guitars, Shwayze's self-titled debut [Suretone/Geffen Records] pays homage to an all-day-and-into-the-night party lifestyle colored by the rolling tides of his hometown beaches, and the rolling papers that flavor the proceedings. Collaborating with Shwayze, Adler co-wrote all of the songs on the album, producing and providing backing vocals along the way.

The first single, "Buzzin'" splashes Cisco's roots-rock acoustic-guitar and vocal tapestry with Shwayze's cooler-than-a-sea-breeze hip-hop delivery. Says the rapper, "It's a new West Coast sound, it's California chill, West Coast stoner music." Case in point? "Don't Be Shy." "It's about Malibu being like an endless summer. Cisco came up with the hook and the `da-don-don, da-don-don-don't be shy' part. I came up with the verses about a couple of chicks I was into. It's about wanting summer to come back, waiting for the sun and kicking it on the beach."

Customer Reviews:

GREAT ALBUM & ARTIST   October 15, 2008
This is a great album from a great artist. I highly recommend it. You won't be disappointed. Shwayze comes with a refreshing, laid back stoner style that's all original and all his own. I have let five people listen to this CD and EVERY ONE OF THEM went and bought it after one listen.
I'm a big rap fan, but I cannot tell you how tired I am of hearing every single rapper on the radio sounding like they are rapping the same stuff, from the same label, from the same producer, from the same studio, from the same ghostwriter, since most of them don't even write their own ish anymore. It's pathetic, they make most of these raps the same way they make cars: mass produced in a factory.
If you miss real rap, buy some Shwayze and find it again. It's a beautiful thing.

Very interesting   October 10, 2008
This album is interesting. I love it, but I'm not sure why. The lyrics are raunchy, and at times degrading; they glamourise habits and lifestyles that I do not find appealing--but then, the catchy tunes and favourable rhyme schemes catch me. I find "Corona and Lime" to be the standout hit (also the cleanest song on the record), with the notably catchy "Polaroid" and "Lazy Susan" as strong follow-ups. The hooks work, and if you can get past the lyrics, you'll be hooked.

feel good rap   October 10, 2008
i just picked up this shwayze cd and let me tell you i just wanna get together with my friends and get trashed.this cd is great just to chill to,feel good rap!

Had potential but a big dissapointment!!! (2 of 3 Found this Helpful)   September 11, 2008
I bought this album because I had heard the track Buzzin and was like I gotta have this. When I first started to listen to the album I was like this is gonna be very good. I felt this way through like the first 4 tracks or so and then I got very bored listening to this album. The content was all the same to me. There wasn't very much creativity at all. Some of the beats sounded very similar and just sounded like the production was pretty poor. I've listened to this album a few times now all the way through and it just sounds worse every time I listen to it. I guess this is the kind of lyrics you could expect from a couple guys from Malibu. I'm not trying to bash this album because it did have potential to be something great. I know other people might like it but I just can't ignore all the flaws. If anybodies looking for a really good album that mixes hip-hop, rap, rock, and just good vibes together I would recommend Hollywood Undead from LA. Their new album is called Swan Songs and the album is awesome from start to finish.

HOLLYWOOD IS A PLACE FOR LOVERS NOW   August 30, 2008
I FIRST HEARD SHWAYZE FLIPPING THROUGH THE CHANNELS AND GOT ADDICTED TO THE SONG BUZZIN. THEN WHEN THEY DROPPED CORONA AND LIME I WAS LIKE OKAY THEYRE ONTO SOMETHING.THE TV SHOW IS FUNNY AS HELL I WATCH EVERY WEEK ON MTV. THE ALBUM IS CRAZY FROM BEGINNING TO END. MY FAVS WOULD HAVE TO BE HOLLYWOOD AND JAMES BROWN IS DEAD. THIS CD SOUNDS LIKE IT WAS MADE FOR STONERS BUT NON SMOKING PEOPLE LIKE ME CAN STILL ENJOY IT THE MUSIC IS SO LAID BACK YET CRAZY.....NAW ITS SHWAYZE
